Kindred Connections, Inc. ("Kindred Connections," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Bailey AI companion service and the kindredconnections.co website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, role (senior, family member, facility staff)
  • Voice recordings and transcripts from conversations with Bailey
  • Photos uploaded to prompt Bailey conversations
  • Health-related information: medication schedules, appointment details
  • Messages and content submitted via our contact form or waitlist

Information collected automatically

  • Device type, browser, operating system, IP address
  • Pages visited, session duration, scroll depth (via Google Analytics 4)
  • Cookie data (see Cookie section below)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the Bailey companion service
  • To deliver medication reminders and check-in alerts
  • To generate family insights and engagement summaries (with senior consent)
  • To respond to inquiries and support requests
  • To send service-related notifications (not marketing without consent)
  • To detect and prevent safety issues, crisis situations, and abuse
  • To comply with legal obligations

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with service providers who help us deliver Bailey. Each provider is contractually required to protect your data:

  • OpenAI — AI conversation processing (voice and text)
  • ElevenLabs — Text-to-speech and voice cloning
  • Twilio — Phone call delivery and SMS reminders
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery
  • Google Analytics 4 — Aggregated website usage analytics (IP anonymized)
  • Railway — Cloud infrastructure and hosting
  • Sentry — Error monitoring (conversation content is scrubbed)

4. Data Retention

We retain conversation data for as long as your account is active. Voice recordings are retained for 12 months by default unless you request deletion. Account data is deleted within 30 days of account closure. Analytics data is retained for 26 months per Google Analytics defaults.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to maintain session state and measure site usage. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you accept cookies via our consent banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the site footer.

6. Your Rights

All users

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Withdraw consent for voice cloning or family sharing at any time
  • Request a copy of your conversation data in machine-readable format

California residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and to request deletion. Submit requests to hello@kindredconnections.co.

EEA/UK residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or UK, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing. Contact hello@kindredconnections.co to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

Bailey is designed for adults age 65 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, contact us immediately.

8. Security

We use AES-256-GCM encryption for data at rest, TLS 1.3 for data in transit, and role-based access controls to limit who can access personal health information. We conduct regular security reviews.

9. HIPAA Notice

Bailey may process protected health information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA in the context of care facility deployments. We enter Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with covered entities as required. Individual consumer users of Bailey are not covered entities under HIPAA; however, we apply equivalent protections to all health-related data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before taking effect.
